The monastery
Under the unfavourable Turkish ruler, the Franciscans had still managed to develop their monastery to such an extent that in 1640, the apostolic visitator sent from Rome called it the most beautiful of all monasteries within the former wide Province of Bosna Srebrena. A small but significant proof of the monastery's religious, economic and cultural status from the period of Turkish rule is the monumental stone inscription, written in Croatian language and alphabet from 1589 which still stands today above the entrance to the church.
