The Turkish hudžet and the first memory of Zaostrog
The monastery has in its possession two extremely valuable documents. One, dating from 1494, is a document from the times when Suleiman the Magnificent was born and this is where Zaostrog is mentioned for the first time.
The other document is from 1463 and is the oldest and most important. According to this document Mehmed II allows the Franciscans unimpeded movement within the parishes. This is a very valuable document, the so called Ahdname (also Achtiname), a record which determines all rights, freedoms, movements, motions, exchange, and trade.
